Second Class
Colour Theory
The children in 2nd Class learned all about the primary colours in art. We looked at the work of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian who often only used primary colours in his paintings. The children used Mondrian's work as inpiration for their own art - exploring line and shape too!
In the following weeks we began to investigate the secondary colours. We used the colour wheel to easily display the primary, secondary, warm and cool colours to help us learn the basics of colour theory!
Bodhrán with Kane
The children in 2nd class have been learning how to play the bodhrán under the wonderful guidance of Kane. The children are really enjoying playing and might even showcase their work at the Christmas concert this year!
Halloween 2022
Happy Halloween from 2nd Class!
Moonlit Pumpkins
This month the children in 2nd Class were exploring fine lines and tints and shades in art. We used oil pastels to draw moonlit pumpkin patches.
Maths Week 2022
We had great fun during Maths Week this month. The children participated in a wide variety of activities and our focus for the week was on 2D shapes. We particularly enjoyed finding 2D shapes both inside and outside the school on our hunt.
