People Who Share Care

Well done to the students of Kildalkey who raised nearly 300 euro for the Athboy group 'People Who Share Care'.

Donating proceeds from the Hallowe'en dress up day, the school was delighted to have two leaders from the group come in and talk to the classes about their experiences.

Well done to the students and thanks very much to the 'People Who Share Care' group.

More information can be found about their group on their Facebook page - here.

Kildalkey N.S. through the Years

The launch of the book 'Kildalkey N.S. through the years' takes place this Thursday, 13th September from 7.00 to 9.00 in the Village Inn.

Book Launch2

Lots of work has gone into this publication, spearheaded by Angie, Bill Sweeney, Joanne O'Donherty among others.

We are exceptionally happy with the finished product, which has surpassed all expectations and no household should be without one.

The launch will begin at 9 in the Village Inn and we encourage all to come down and pick up a copy.

Thanks to all who have been involved in this great publication.

Official Opening

The Official Opening of Kildalkey N.S. took place last Friday, 28th September.

Opening1

On what was a beautiful September day, the key was turned in the old school by Paddy Corrigan, the oldest surviving past pupil.

Opening 4

The school then marched behind four drummers accompanied by the sixth class providing some colourful scenes!

Bishop Deenihan then blessed the new school and shortly after, Minister Bruton cut the ribbon signalling that the new school had been officially opened!

Opening 7

Speeches were held in the hall, with addresses by the chairperson of the Board of Management Colin Finnegan, Bishop Deenihan, 6th class student Ellen Johnston, Principal Mr. Fox, the chairperson of the Parents' Association Shiofra Keogh and of course, the Minister for Education and Skills Mr. Richard Bruton T.D. The ceremony was punctuated throughout by beautiful songs from the choir before being closed with some gorgeous  Irish dancing from Chanel, Chloe and Jennah.

Thanks to one and all for their help on what was a momentous day for the school. It is a day that will live long in the memory and an historic one for all both affiliated with Kildalkey N.S. and with Kildalkey in general. The school, particularly the Hall, looked majestic with some beautiful art designs on display. The choir were superb with thanks to the teachers in charge and thanks also to Miss O'Sullivan for her beautiful rendition of 'A Mhuire Mháthair' at the old school. There are too many to thank to list everyone but thanks to all who added in any way to the day!
