Mrs. Maguire Remembered

Today, Kildalkey NS marked the one year anniversary of the passing of our beloved teacher and colleague, Margaret Maguire.

For many years, Margaret taught the children in Kildalkey NS tirelessly and compassionately.

Being a voice for pupils who needed extra support was Margaret's favourite mission. She gave tirelessly to explore, learn, understand and better still, educate others on how to understand and help. Her joy came in devising methods to reach and encourage children, seeking out new resources and creating them where they simply did not yet exist. She was a teacher, quite simply, ahead of her time.

Today, she was remembered with a small prayer service in front of a flower display by our altar.

Shoebox Appeal

Kildalkey NS are running the Shoebox Appeal again this year.

In conjunction with Team Hope, we are encouraging pupils to gather some of their old toys (in good condition) to fill Shoeboxes.

The Team Hope Christmas Shoebox Appeal is an annual campaign where thousands of people across Ireland donate shoeboxes filled with gifts for children affected by poverty in Africa or Eastern Europe. It is an opportunity to share a little joy and excitement with children who live in circumstances where these can often be in short supply.

We have run this Appeal over many years and hope to see a lot of shoeboxes again this year.

Poppy Gallery

Our new School Gallery opened today, 7th October.

It has been named the Poppy Gallery, in memory of our dear colleague and friend, Mrs. Margaret Maguire.

We look forward to seeing new creations from budding artists adorning our gallery.
