Girls' final 23rd November
The girls' Division 2 football final is taking place this Saturday, 23rd November in Páirc Tailteann. They play Gaelscoil Éanna from Navan for the coveted title. Gaelscoil Éanna are the reigning Division 2 champions and are also the reigning Mini 7s football champions so the challenge facing Kildalkey is a sizeable one.
The throw in is at 11.30. The girls are asked to be there for 11.00. We hope to see a big and vocal crowd of supporters there to cheer them on! Please note that the admission fee is 3 euro and that access to Páirc Tailteann is from the Common Road entrance only and NOT from Navan O'Mahonys.
Kildalkey N.S. has never won a football title of any description, boys or girls, in Cumann na mBunscol and we hope to see as many people there as possible to see Kildalkey girls change this record!!
Go n-éirí an t-ádh leo!!
Girls achieve memorable victory
The girls' football team achieved an outstanding victory in the semi final today when they beat Lismullen in Dunganny.
Playing with a great intensity and workrate, the girls tore into a lead they would not relinquish. With Lauren and Debbie getting the upperhand at midfield and then supplying the bulk of the scores, Lismullen simply had no answer. With Debbie getting a great goal before half time, this left the half time score at 1-6 to 0-1.
Knowing they would face a renewed challenge from Lismullen in the second half, the girls began the second half as they finished the first. With their captains Rachel and Debbie supplying great leadership and sterling work from Amy, Aoife, Hollie D and Andrea at the back, they ensured Lismullen could not get back into the match. Further goals from Lauren and Rachel ensured there was no comeback from Lismullen. And when Lismullen did breach the defence, Danielle was at hand to thwart the forwards' attempts. Jessica, Hollie, Rachelle, Kayla also made valuable contributions in ensuring the Lismullen goal was always under threat. Eventually the final whistle sounded, leaving the final score 3-9 to 1-4.
Well done to the girls and their coach, Miss Pykett on getting to the final. They now face Gaelscoil Éanna on Saturday, November 23rd at 11.30 in Páirc Tailteann where they will hope to secure the ultimate prize.
Roll on November 23rd!!

Boys Bow Out in Semi Final
The boys bowed out today in the semi final against Kentstown.
Kentstown started well and were three goals to the good after only a few minutes. Kildalkey were a little shell shocked with this start and tried their best to get into the game - however, Kentstown held the upperhand for the rest of the first half. Their two midfielders in particular were powerhouses in the centre of the field.
At this stage, the worst was feared for Kildalkey, having shipped five goals by half time. However, showing great spirit and commitment, they promised at half time to give it their all for one last half. They tore into Kentstown after the resumption, with the sixth and fifth class boys leading the charge. Great point from Niall, Adam and Sam were added to with goals from Niall and Lorcan/Evan. They outscored Kentstown in the second half, which was a fabulous achievement, given the circumstances.
Kentstown deserved their victory on the day but our boys can hold their heads up high, having put in a spirited and and fighting second half performance. Well done on a good year for gaelic football in the school!!
