Kildalkey N.S. celebrated only their second ever boys' football title in Páirc Tailteann on Sunday, 27th November when defeating a gallant Baconstown team by 3 points!

Captained by Henry and Cormac, the boys made a strong start in the first half with some great scores from Cormac and DJ. Two quickfire goals from Baconstown, however, put them five points up. It was then the boys showed everyone what they were made of. A late score from Eoghan left the half time score at 2-3 to 5 points.
The second half saw Kildalkey up the pace. Scores from Henry (2), Eoghan and Kealan saw the boys draw level. Kealan started dominating the game in midfield to a huge extent and saw the boys putting serious pressure on the Baconstown goal. The defining score of the game fell to Kildalkey when Cillian was put through on goal and coolly slotted home to put Kildalkey a goal up.
Baconstown fought back and came looking trying to get back level. A point from a free, their sole score of the second half, reduced the margin to two points. A point from Eoghan settled the nerves and Kildalkey fought to the end. Some brilliant kick outs from Eoin kept the ball moving up the pitch and stirling defensive performances from Samuel, Jack K and Jack C saw Kildalkey home. The final whistle sounded and Kildalkey were champions on a scoreline of Kildalkey 1-10 Baconstown 2-4.
Cormac and Henry collected the cup on behalf of the team and made some lovely comments. Then it was back to the school for some well earned chips and refreshments, put on by the Parents' Association. Thanks to the Parents' Association for organising all and putting on a fine spread!

Well done to a terrific team. It was a complete team effort and was very well deserved. The school are very proud of all their efforts both in the final and throughout the year. Thanks so much to coaches Mr. Treanor and Chloe who helped out throughout the year.
It's a very hard thing to do, to win a Cumann na mBunscol title, particularly in boys' football. Kildalkey won their first title in 2017 and it was a huge achievement to win their second ever boys' football title today. A little bit of history!
