Well done to the boys' 3rd and 4th class hurling team and the girls' 3rd and 4th camogie team who won the Peadar Lehane cups today.
In two very tight matches, Kildalkey just got the upper hand in both matches.
In a beautiful Boardsmill GAA pitch, the boys games was first. Excellent scores from Harry, Lucas and Seán meant a half time scoreline of 3 goals to none. Further points from Lucas and Eoin meant the cup was coming back to Kildalkey.
Afterwards, Mr. Battersby handed out the medals to all the players from both sides and presented the cup to captains Samuel and Harry. They then made an excellent speech praising the opposition and the grounds in particular. Well done boys!
The girls' match was an even tighter affair. An early score from Boardsmill put Kildalkey under serious pressure. However, the girls were up to the challenge and a goal from Callie just before the break put the two sides level at half time. The second half was an even affair, with chances for both sides. However, with only a few minutes left, ÉabhaMarie crashed the ball to the net to give Kildalkey the win!
Daisy and Ciara gratefully received the shield from Mr. Battersby and made another excellent speech. Well done to the girls on a great performance!
Thanks to Boardsmill GAA for hosting the event, thank you to Mr. Battersby from Boardsmill N.S. for his running of the competition and for providing the medals. This competition is held every year in memory of Peadar Lehane, former Principal of Kildalkey N.S.
