Second Class
January - Space
We have been learning all about Space this month! We loved discovering the planets in our Solar System and learning why the Sun is so important to Planet Earth.
We also explored places on Earth that are affected by the Sun, including the Sahara Desert, and learned about desert animals and how they survive in such hot, sunny environments.
Using everything we learned this month, we created projects about the Moon, the Sun, Earth, and Constellations.

Let's Go Nationwide Art Competition Winner!
We are delighted to share some fantastic news!
One of our 2nd Class pupils, Rosie, has been selected as the overall nationwide winner of the Let’s Go Art Competition. This is a remarkable achievement, made even more special as it was the very first Let’s Go art competition.
Thanks to Rosie’s winning poster, 2nd Class has been awarded a FREE Let’s Go school tour in 2026!
We would also like to acknowledge the wonderful effort made by all pupils in 2nd Class who took part in the competition. We are very proud of everyone involved.
A huge congratulations to Rosie on this outstanding achievement!

Christmas 2025!
2nd Class enjoyed working on narrative writing this term, creating wonderful Christmas stories full of imagination and creativity. The children also showed great teamwork as we decorated our classroom doors for Christmas. The term ended on a wonderful high with a fantastic Christmas concert, where the children performed Away in a Manger on tin whistle, an Irish song - An Chéad Nollaig and Jingle Bell Rock! Well done 2nd Class!

November 2025
November was a busy and creative month in our classroom. We explored the theme of houses and homes, learning about different types of homes around the world. In Art, we continued our work on primary colours and studied the vibrant style of Piet Mondrian, creating our own beautiful Mondrian-inspired pieces. We also enjoyed getting into the seasonal spirit with some cosy winter art.
Ms Cassidy has been teaching us throughout the month too, and the class loved working with oil pastels to produce colourful, expressive artwork. It has been a month full of learning, creativity, and fun.

Halloween 2025
2nd Class had a wonderfully spooky and creative time celebrating Halloween this year! The children showcased their costumes during our Halloween assembly. Everyone put great effort into their costumes.
We created moonlit pumpkin scenes using oil pastels, experimenting with colour blending. We also designed and constructed our own haunted houses, using recycled materials and plenty of imagination.
